Subject to budgetary authorization, we will consider applicants for a one-year Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Economics at the University of California, Irvine (UCI)

Job Description

The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with Professors Duffy and McBride on developing and implementing the new Experimental Social Science Research Network (ESSRN) a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary network of researchers engaged in social science experiments. The post-doctoral researcher’s primary duties will be to build up and enhance a Kubernetes-based laboratory server cluster, where containerized virtual workspaces enable large numbers of experimental researchers to code, test and conduct computerized experiments in parallel. The post-doctoral research will also be tasked with advertising the ESSRN to other researchers by webinars and conference presentations, and to assist with the preparation of external grant proposal applications to secure additional funding for the ESSRN. The postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to interact with faculty in Economics and Computer Science at UCI.

Candidates are expected to have strong programming sills and an interest in experimental social science methods. Knowledge of Kubernetes, Python and experimental programming packages oTree and zTree is highly desirable.

Salary and benefits:

This position is full-time with benefits for the 12 month calendar year. Salary is commensurate with experience.

The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. (by the start of the appointment) in Economics, Computer Science or related disciplines.
