The UCI Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering is opening a Postdoctoral Scholar position (Levels 0 - 4). This position requires a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineer, Electrical Engineering, or related degrees to the area of robotics/mechatronics.
This position will have a split appointment with the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrrey (a private university in Mexico) and one of the goals of this position will be to stablish cooperative relationship in projects involving both institutions. The postdoctoral scholar will have a 50% appointment as Lecturer at the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey and 50% at UCI, but all the activities related to their research (100%) will be conducted at University California, Irvine under the Magnetic Microsystems & Microrobotics lab from Professor Camilo Velez Cuervo. This lab is located at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, UC Irvine. There will opportunities to collaborate widely across other research groups at UCI Irvine and other Universities across Latin America.
Visits to Mexico for academic exchange are expected during this appointment and will be scheduled upon arrival at UCI.
We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral candidate interested in building autonomous microrobots to solve problems in water treatment and biomedical environments. Strong knowledge of electronic circuit design, power management, energy harvesting, wireless power transfer, and embedded systems, control algorisms is required.
Initial Appointment will be for 12 months, and will be renewable for up to two years, subject to performance and availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
