Position description

Position: Assist Specialist – 2022-2023

Position is available at the University of California, Irvine, Department of Radiological Sciences for a one year appointment, non-senate, Assistant Specialist.

The position involves assisting faculty with research investigation in the abdominal imaging research. Areas of research include quantitative oncologic imaging, image processing and imaging technology assessment; Incumbent is expected to make scientific and scholarly contributions to the research enterprise. Incumbent will assume responsibilities including: 1) datamining to enable processing and curating complex data sets; (2) data analysis using traditional statistical and machine learning techniques; (3) design, coordination, and execution of research experiments (in vivo and in-vitro); (4) preparation and submission of manuscripts, grant proposals and research-related regulatory documentation including IRB approvals. There is close collaboration with other departments.

ASSISTANT SPECIALIST REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant at the Assistant rank should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Mastery of the English language is required. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. Experience with medical research and scientific writing. Experience with medical imaging research is a plus, MD or MD/PhD preferred.
