The University of California Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position. The academic appointment may be in the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical or Clinical X series, depending on experience and extent of research effort. Both HS and Clinical X faculty provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; perform public and University service; and contribute to scholarly activities, but Clinical X faculty are expected to conduct more substantial research. An academic appointment in the Clinical X series confers membership in the UCI Academic Senate.
The position is part of a research-focused Cluster Hire in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and Cell Therapy involving multiple faculty recruitments, including other physician-scientists, for clinical, translational, and basic science. Accordingly, the department seeks an MD or MD-PhD board-certified hematopathologist with outstanding clinical skills and an established research program to collaborate and lead research projects with other Cluster members and existing faculty in the hematology arena. The candidate is expected to interact with and contribute to existing resources and strengths of UCI Health and its campus partners, including the NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, Cancer Research Institute, Center for Complex Biological Systems, the Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center, among others along with graduate training programs in cancer biology, stem cell biology, systems biology, and other biomedical sciences.
The successful recruit will also have the interpersonal and administrative skills to effectively coordinate with other faculty and staff in research, clinical, and teaching activities. Clinical licensure and board certification in hematopathology, as well as current sign-out responsibility in hematopathology, are expected. Departmental leadership roles aligned with candidate interests are also anticipated. Teaching and mentoring activities may involve medical students, graduate students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and expectations.
Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, 3 statements (research, teaching, and contributions to diversity), a list of 4-5 references, and any additional items to UCI Recruit: https://recruit.ap.uci.edu/JPF07566
