Position description
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Irvine is seeking qualified candidates for all ranks in the non-tenure track Health Sciences Clinical Professor series. Clinicians interested in pursuing an academic medicine career in pathology will be given the opportunity to grow in a new and dynamic department that provides care in all UCI Irvine clinical locations. This includes the UC Irvine Douglas Hospital, a modern facility opened in 2009 with state-of-the-art operating rooms and all new equipment. Douglas Hospital is the only level I trauma center in Orange County. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent managerial skills, a strong interest in service activities, a commitment to education and a proven record in clinical and/or translational research. The candidate will be responsible for all clinical pathology services when on call-duty and also is expected to participate in intradepartmental and hospital committees and to teach medical students, residents and fellows. Applicants must be board certified in Anatomic Pathology. Expertise in Clinical Pathology is also desirable.
The University of California, Irvine Medical Center is a 417-bed tertiary medical center and is home to specialty services including an NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, H. H. Chao Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center, UC Irvine Regional Burn Center and the only Level I trauma center in Orange County. It provides diagnostic services to UCI Healthcare patients and also provides consultative and referral services to more than 33 hospitals in Orange County and 31 other regional hospitals.
Requirements: All applicants must be qualified for a medical license in the State of California. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.
