Arnold and Mabel Beckman Postdoctoral Scholar in Macular Degeneration - Browne Lab

Application Window

Open July 11, 2022 through Friday, Jun 30, 2023 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time)

Position description

The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Postdoctoral Scholar Position is a prestigious competitive award to support young researchers conducting research in Macular Degeneration. The Scholar position is to support a postdoctoral scholar conducting research in the Browne Lab (Eye-Testing Lab) in the Center for Translational Vision Research at UCI. The Browne lab is dedicated to engineering tools to image and test visual function. Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in the aging population. We seek to develop imaging systems and therapies for humans suffering from macular degenerative conditions. We are building cameras (2-photon (2P) excited fluorescence, diffuse light optics, stereo multispectral imaging and ultrasound) to visualize the retinal structure and function. We are also developing systems to enhance retinal organoid manufacturing for therapeutic transplantation and scientific inquisition. To complement each of these lines of research, we employ computer vision and deep learning to enhance data acquired from imaging systems.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Position may begin as early as August 1, 2022.
