Position description

PROJECT SCIENTIST IN IMMUNOLOGY AND/OR CANCER IMMUNOTHERAPY

The laboratory of Professor Michael Demetriou, Department of Neurology, UC Irvine, seeks an outstanding PhD scientist in the field of immunology, cancer immunotherapy and/or protein engineering. The position requires broad experience in molecular and cellular biological techniques as well as genetic/disease mouse models. The incumbent will collaborate with others in the lab to expedite analysis as well as be exposed to a wide variety of ongoing immunological research studies.

Requirements:
Candidates should hold a doctoral degree (PhD) or equivalent in Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular or Cell Biology and/or Protein Chemistry and have a proven track record of research success with first author publications in well-respected journals. The candidate is expected to have experience in mouse disease models as well as broad experience in standard molecular and cellular biological techniques. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in one or more of recombinant protein expression/purification/characterization, immunohistochemistry, confocal immunofluorescence, mouse manipulation such as tail vein injection, flow cytometry and/or pharmacokinetics. Command of spoken and written English is essential.

Additional Information:
Positions are dependent upon extramural funding. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Initial appointments are for one year with renewal based on availability of support and research progress. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
