Position description
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for the OB/GYN Hospitalist Fellowship Program. The OB/GYN Hospitalist Fellowship Program is the first in the country to offer an interdepartmental hospital-based curriculum. This program is a one-year fellowship designed to provide high quality, advanced education in hospital-based obstetrics and gynecology focused on maximizing patient safety. It provides a strong blend of clinical, surgical, and healthcare systems training in both academic and community-based hospital settings. This fellowship is also designed for physicians specifically interested in gaining skills to become a leader in hospital medicine.
Requirements: Candidate must have completed an accredited four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. A graduate of a foreign medical school must have a standard ECFMG certificate and completed postgraduate training in the United States. Fellows will be required to have a California license, in addition to being ABOG Board Eligible or Board Certified.
Responsibilities will include providing patient care, teaching clinical programs, performing University and public service, and demonstrating professional competency and activity. Fellows will rotate through a high-risk Labor & Delivery unit as well as consulting in Emergency Room and other units at the University Hospital, in addition to having significant exposure to a community-based private practice population.
