Position description

A postdoctoral scholar position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Roberto Tinoco in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine. The Tinoco lab studies the function of immune checkpoints in murine models of chronic viral infection and cancer. We are a cancer immunology and viral immunology lab. This project, funded by a grant from the NIH, will use a combination of molecular and cellular tools and conditional gene knockout mice to assess the function of T cells in virally infected hosts or in tumors. Renewal of the appointment will be contingent on the availability of adequate funding and performance. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and a recent graduate with a PhD or MD/PhD degree with strong academic training in immunology or related field.

REQUIREMENTS
• Research experience working with animals, flow cytometry, single cell sequencing / analysis is preferred but not required
• Proven track record of troubleshooting and problem solving
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple projects in and bring projects to completion
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Willingness to learn new approaches and techniques
• Collaborative approach to science
