The Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine (CS@UCI) invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the assistant, associate, or full rank starting July 1, 2023. This faculty search targets applicants with research expertise in all aspects of artificial intelligence and machine learning, broadly interpreted.
The UCI Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences brings together three departments with complementary computational interests: Computer Science, Statistics, and Informatics. The UCI Center for Machine Learning and Intelligent Systems further connects more than thirty faculty from CS@UCI and a broad range of other scientific fields. Interdisciplinary AI research at UCI is facilitated by the Steckler Center for Responsible, Ethical, and Accessible Technology, as well as the Irvine Initiative in AI, Law, and Society.
The 2022 U.S. News and World Report ranking identifies UCI as a top 10 public university, and CS@UCI as one of the top 30 Computer Science departments in the United States. CS@UCI has over 50 faculty including 2 NAE Members, 14 ACM Fellows, 11 IEEE Fellows, and 14 AAAS Fellows. UCI was ranked as the No. 1 college by Money Magazine, and identified by the New York Times as No. 1 among U.S. universities that do the most for low-income students. UCI is located in Orange County, 4 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 45 miles south of Los Angeles. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in computer science or a closely related field. To implement this process, UC Irvine requires all candidates of Ladder Rank Professor or Professor of Teaching series, at all ranks (i.e., assistant, associate, and full) to complete, sign, and upload the form entitled “Authorization to Release Information” into AP RECRUIT as part of their application. If the candidate does not include the signed authorization to release information with the application materials, the application will be considered incomplete. As with any incomplete application, the application will not receive further consideration. Although all applicants for faculty recruitments must complete the entire application, only finalists (i.e., those to whom the department or other hiring unit would like to extend a formal offer) considered for Ladder Rank Professor or Professor of Teaching series, at all ranks (i.e., assistant, associate, and full) positions will be subject to institutional reference checks.
