Position: Postdoctoral Scholar Series

The University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior has an opening in the Postdoctoral Scholar Series - Della Martin Fellowship.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a M.D. degree and/or Ph.D. degree with experience in induced pluripotent stem cells differentiation to neurons for phenotyping. Additional knowledge, background in GWAS analyses, and familiarity with single cell or single nuclei RNA sequencing, including laboratory and analytic methods. The ideal candidate will perform both in vitro laboratory methods and bioinformatics analyses. Salaries are based on University of California salary scales, which are dependent on academic rank and step, and commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must possess a M.D. degree and/or Ph.D. degree and should prepare a document describing the study or research they expect to undertake if awarded a Della Martin fellowship. The plan can be two to three years.

a. Statement of hypothesis or project and how proposed study relates to the current body of research, providing any context that will add to a better appreciation of the project and its significance

b. Description of the applicant's proposed methodology, providing (if appropriate to the field of study) information about sampling, instrumentation, data sources and collection, and analyses

c. A timeline for the completion of the project, including a description of expected results of research.

d. Explanation for choice of fellowship institution and how it will enhance the applicant's plan, the kind of assistance and support expected, and the networks and professional associations to be established

e. Description of how the proposed research will facilitate and enhance the applicant's career plans and contribute to the field of study
