Position description
The University of California, Irvine (UCI) invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position at multiple ranks (assistant, associate, or full professor) in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Final candidate will be nominated for an Endowed Chair in the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute and the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute in the Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences at UCI offers integrative healthcare that incorporates research, teaching, and education into patient care, in the classroom and local community. The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences faculty is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and pharmacists involved in cutting-edge drug discovery research.
Ideal candidates will have an exemplary record of scholarly activities leading toward a deeper understanding of human health and wellness through translational studies that reveal the molecular mechanisms of bioactive compounds or complementary interventions combining atypical practices with conventional medicine.
Research areas of particular interest include:
● Discovery/synthesis of biologically active natural products
● Chemical biology tool development for elucidating drug MOA / molecular
pathology
● Synthetic biology approaches to drug discovery
● Discovery of novel biomarkers that advance early disease detection
● Molecular approaches that couple translational research to clinical trials
● Identification of bioactive natural products (esp. plant-derived)
● Plant chemistry, biotechnology and phytochemistry
