Position description

The Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics, which is part of the Program in Public Health at the University of California, Irvine seeks a Research Specialist for young adult cancer survivorship research.

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual who has excellent organization, time management and communication skills to join our research team. Primary activities will include assisting with the Project Milestones Study: a population-based (Cancer Registry-based) cohort of young adult cancer survivors. This person will work closely with the principal investigator to:

  • Assist with recruitment and tracking efforts (primarily mail and phone-based outreach)
  • Assist with database management and coding
  • Contribute towards weekly team meetings and other administrative tasks

This is a full time position which includes full University of California benefits and retirement.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree (emphasis in public health, biostatistics, behavioral science, or related areas preferred) and should have previous experience with database management and programming (e.g. REDCap, SAS). Applicants should possess solid organizational and time management skills and have ability to work in a team environment with ever-changing priorities.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See The salary range for this position is $22.42-$38.61/hourly.

“Off-scale salaries” and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
