Temporary Lecturer Positions
2022-2023 Academic Year

Winter 2023 (January 4, 2023 – March 24, 2023)
ART 121A. Afro-Futurism I. First of a two-part course on the futuristic artistic vision of Black film, video, and cyberspace. Deals with critical analyses of the Black image in Western Art history, and its association to contemporary Hip Hop culture, art, and music.

Spring 2023 (March 29, 2023 – June 16, 2023)
ART 100 Collaborative Projects in New Genres. Focuses on collaboration as ethos and methodology in contemporary art with emphasis on non-traditional genres such as performative, time-based, and social practices. A part of the course deals with the history and critical analyses of collectivity in art history, the majority of it is a studio-based class, culminating in a collective project at the end of the quarter.

ART 121B. Afro-Futurism II. Second of a two-part course on the futuristic artistic visions of Black film, video, and cyberspace. Deals with modern techno-culture, digital activism, and designing technology based on African aesthetic principles of contemporary Hip Hop international culture.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MFA (or equivalent) or PhD, and at least 3 years of teaching experience or equivalent experience, at the college or university level.

Salary: approx. $6,202 per class. All classes above will be taught in-person.
