Position description

The Morehouse Lab at UCI in the department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry is looking to hire postdoctoral fellows to conduct original and innovative research in the areas of microbiology, immunology, nucleotide chemistry, enzymology, and structural biology. Projects will be tailored to the applicant but generally they will explore areas related to host-pathogen conflict, phage biology, and uncharacterized chemical signaling pathways. The qualified applicants will have recently defended or plan to defend their Ph.D. thesis before committing to the position. Successful applicants will be expected to: 1) Pursue their own independent research project within the lab while supporting ongoing collaborative work; 2) Contribute to the academic scholarship activities of the lab including publishing and presenting research in public forums; 3) Mentor other laboratory trainees including graduate and undergraduate students.

This is an excellent opportunity to get advanced training in structural biology techniques such as X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM and to work in an exciting and fast-moving field. Apply now if you are interested in contributing to and growing with a young and motivated team that is passionate about science and mentorship. Postdoctoral fellows will receive close guidance from the PI including professional development support for planning the transition to the next career stage.
