Position description
The School of Education at the University of California, Irvine is conducting a search for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of Race and Education. We welcome applicants across diverse fields and methodologies with strong scholarship focused on race and education across age groups, including, but not limited to, research that focuses on the racial/ethnic identity among children and youth in educational, family, and/or community settings; the intersection of race/ethnicity, experiences, and outcomes in learning; systems of oppression for marginalized communities and forms of resistance in educational environments; culturally sustaining pedagogies across content areas; policies and practices that redress racial injustice and inequity; theories of systemic and organizational change. In P–12 and postsecondary education.
The UCI School of Education is part of a newly awarded Latinx and Black Cluster Hire Initiative (LBCHI), which seeks to hire scholars that center race as core to their educational research agenda in their respective disciplines across varied areas of focus. If relevant, this hire will affiliate with others as part of this cluster.
Applicants will be hired at the rank of Assistant Professor, have a Ph.D. conferred (or equivalent) by July 1, 2023 and a record of scholarship, teaching and mentorship, and service commensurate to their career stage. The School of Education has outstanding undergraduate, CALTeach, Ph.D., and MAT teacher preparation programs.
