Position description
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Irvine is seeking qualified candidates for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level to serve as the Medical Director of Cytology. The academic appointment may be in the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical or Clinical X series, depending on experience and extent of research effort. Both HS and Clinical X faculty provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; perform public and University service; and contribute to scholarly activities, but Clinical X faculty are expected to conduct more substantial research.
Applicants must have at least 5-years post fellowship experience, hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree, and must be cytopathology fellowship trained and board certified in Cytopathology, and board-certified in Anatomic Pathology. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent interpersonal and managerial skills, a strong interest in service activities, a commitment to education, and a record in clinical and/or translational research that may be collaborative in nature. The candidate will be responsible for clinical services in cytopathology and surgical pathology, including service on departmental and hospital committees, cytopathology fellowship program, and teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows.
Requirements - All applicants must have 5-years’ experience and fellowship training in cytopathology, must be board-certified in Anatomic Pathology and Cytopathology, and must hold or qualify for a medical license in the State of California. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.
