Position description

The University of California Irvine (UCI) Sue & Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center (SCRC; www.stemcell.uci.edu) and School of Medicine (SOM, https://www.som.uci.edu) invite applications from outstanding candidates for a faculty position in stem cell biology, serving as Scientific Director for Cell Therapy Development and Translation. Successful candidates will have an active research program with a focus on innovation in novel methods/platforms, biomaterials, and/or biomolecules that has broad potential to impact the development and translation of cellular therapies. Examples of relevant research areas include but are not limited to: the development or optimization of scalable 2D or 3D cell culture platforms; optimization of the derivation, characterization, differentiation or manipulation of reprogrammed stem cells (iPSC); and development of novel approaches to the selection or monitoring of cell lines for clinical applications, such as multi-omic or label-free platforms. Review of applications will prioritize research programs with broad relevance to the translation of cellular therapies for neurological disease, as well as potential to accelerate translational research and clinical application via addressing roadblocks relevant for Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) cell production.
