Position description

A NIH funded Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Ron Frostig. The pre-clinical project for this position is focused on growing evidence for the importance of evoked neuronal activity on ischemic stroke outcome in a rodent model, either protective from impeding stroke or leading to deterioration to a major cortical infarct. Further, such evoked neuronal activity can predict the location and volume of the infarcted area.

We routinely employ multi-disciplinary Systems Neuroscience approaches including high-resolution functional imaging techniques, functional ultrasound, blood flow imaging techniques, neuronal recordings from microelectrode arrays, pharmacological and optogentic interventions, behavioral tests, machine learning, and post-mortem histology.

Dr. Frostig’s laboratory is in the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior located at McGaugh Hall on the UCI campus and is part of a rich and diversified Neuroscience research environment at UCI.

Candidates should be highly motivated and have a recent Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering or Neuroscience. Experience in extracellular electrophysiology in addition to strong programming experience is highly desirable.

Qualified candidates should submit curriculum vitae, a statement of research experience and interests and names and contact information for three references to the following on-line recruitment URL: https://recruit.ap.uci.edu/JPF08000

For more information about this position please contact Dr. Frostig at: rfrostig@uci.edu.
