Salary range: Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) calculation includes AAMC salary benchmarks for Neurology ranging from $220,000.00 - $289,940.00. The posted UC salary scales set the base pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. This position includes membership in the health science compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Tenure-Track or Tenured Faculty Position in Neurodegeneration/Neurovascular Research

UCI invites applications for a full-time tenure-track, in-line position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank to join the faculty of the Department of Neurology in the School of Medicine, College of Health Sciences, University of California, Irvine.

Ideal applicants will be employing molecular, cellular, neurobiological, imaging, and/or genetic approaches to the study of neurodegenerative disease, including but not limited to Parkinson’s disease, ALS, and Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, and/or neurovascular disease, with emphasis on potential translational application. Successful candidates will have track records of creativity and productivity, demonstrated potential for outstanding future achievement, and a desire to participate in an exciting, interactive, and rapidly growing neuroscience and neurological disease research community.

Tenure-track and tenured faculty are expected to mount a productive and innovative research program, obtain extramural funding, and actively participate in graduate student, medical student, and resident education. The successful candidate will be able to leverage existing resources and strengths of UCI Health and its campus partners, including the Alzheimer Disease Research Center (ADRC), Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurologic Disorders (IMIND), Institute for Clinical and Translational Sciences, Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center (SCRC), and graduate and resident training programs in the neurosciences and biomedical sciences. Researchers at UCI also benefit from outstanding resources and collaborators housed in UCI Beall Applied Innovation, the UCI Health Beckman Laser Institute, the Institute for Precision Health, Center for Neurotherapeutics, the Center for Neural Circuit Mapping, and others.

The appointment series will be either a member of the Line Series or Clinical X Series, which includes a tenure-track or tenure appointment dependent upon the qualifications. The entire appointment includes membership to the Academic Senate.

We expect the successful applicant to demonstrate a genuine commitment to service activities within the local, national, and international community. Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., M.D.-Ph.D., or equivalent degree(s). A clinical presence in our robust neurodegenerative disorders clinical services or in the neurovascular service will be considered an advantage for M.D./M.D-Ph.D. candidates but is not required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (required at time of start)
Board eligibility in the specialty appropriate to the clinical care and teaching activities or have appropriate equivalent recognition. Demonstrate clinical ability commensurate with experience in a Neurology specialty.
