Salary range: The salary range for this position is $55,632-$66,600. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by experience level. See Postdoctoral Scholar Scale for the salary range. “Off-scale salaries”, i.e. a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated experience, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Position description

The McNaughton laboratory at UCI Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory is accepting applications for a postdoctoral position to study the neural basis of cortical learning and knowledge representation at the level of neural ensembles. The project will involve high-density electrophysiological recording in mouse cortex and hippocampus in an immersive virtual reality paradigm, and optogenetic or chemogenetic manipulation of hippocampal output.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated capability in neural ensemble recording in behaving animals and related data analysis, and a record of research productivity including first author publications. The appointment will be initially for two years with possibility of reappointment depending on fund availability and productivity.
