POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR - DATA SCIENCE AND INFORMATICS

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of California, Irvine seeks qualified candidates for the full-time position of Postdoctoral Scholar- Employee in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and related specialties. The candidates will be under the direct supervision and co-mentorship of our exceptional team of physicians in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Our physicians participate in ongoing and basic science research focused on rehabilitation and regenerative medicine and work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary approach to research. Candidates will have an opportunity to collaborate with world-class physicians whose focus is on providing care with the latest treatments and research at Orange County’s only university medical center.

The candidate is expected to work to an extent independently, working with large data from several cohorts and clinical trials; run analytical models on longitudinal data; develop novel predictive models and analytical tools; summarize findings and publish results in research journals; contribute to grant writing; design, organize and conduct highly specialized and advanced experiments using established scientific protocols and procedures and, in some cases design new protocols; assume general responsibilities for scientific operations of the laboratory and provide guidance and supervision of other personnel to coordinate research efforts for increased efficiency.

Requirements:

• Recent (< 3 years from graduation) or anticipated PhD. M.D., DO, or
M.D./Ph.D. degree(s) with equivalent license appropriate to the position
• Experience and PhD in Biological/Biomedical Sciences, Health Sciences;
Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields.
• Excellent programming skills.
• Evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills including peer-
reviewed publications and conference presentations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in and knowledge of biostatistics and clinical research.
• Applicants with prior knowledge of brain injury, spinal cord injury, physical
medicine, and rehabilitation, are encouraged to apply.
