Position description

Department of Art, UC Irvine
Temporary Lecturer Positions in Painting and Drawing
2023-2024 Academic Year

Fall Quarter 2023 (September 25, 2023 - December 21, 2023)
Art 20A Basic Drawing I
Encourages an investigation of the premises and limits of drawing, primarily, but not inevitably, as a two-dimensional medium. Includes slide presentations and discussions of the historical uses of a wide range of drawing. Scheduled on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 3:30pm to 5:50pm.

Art 30B Basic Painting II
Further examinations of the essential qualities of painting: color, form, space, surface, scale, and content. Studio work, slide presentations, and critiques of student work. Scheduled on Monday and Wednesday, from 1pm to 3:20pm.

Winter Quarter 2024 (January 3, 2024 - March 28, 2024)
Art 30B Basic Painting II
Further examinations of the essential qualities of painting: color, form, space, surface, scale, and content. Studio work, slide presentations, and critiques of student work. Schedule TBD.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MFA (or equivalent) or PhD, and at least 3 years of teaching experience or equivalent experience, at the college or university level.

Salary: approx. $6,870 per class.

All classes above will be taught in-person.
