Position description

The UC Irvine School of Education seeks applicants for temporary, part-time lecturer position in fall quarter 2023 to teach EDUC 320 Teaching Physical and Health Education in Elementary School, a course in the Master of Arts with Credential Program designed to prepare classroom teachers to deliver physical education lessons. One 4-unit course section is available in the multiple subject pathway and will be held weekly, in person, on Monday mornings.

Course Description:

Teaching Physical and Health Education in Elementary School (EDUC 320)- 4 Units.
Methods of teaching physical education for the elementary classroom teacher. Through an interactive environment, students experience the California Physical Education and Health content standards with appropriate pedagogy. Concepts address motor skills, physical fitness, and personal responsibility for lifelong health
Service Period Dates:
Fall Quarter is 9/25/23– 12/15/23, first day of instruction is 9/28/23

Minimum Qualifications:
A master's degree, a record of successful teaching experience, a valid multiple subject credential, experience in K-6 physical education teaching, and demonstrated expertise in the content of the course to be taught. Relevant experience may be considered.

Desired Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in a field related to the course to be taught. Teaching at University level.

Salary:

Annual full-time salaries will begin at a base rate of $64,329. The salary range is $64,329-$181,015 annually. Part-time salaries will be a percentage of this amount, based on the assigned workload.
