Position description

The UCI Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering is currently accepting applications for an Associate Specialist in the laboratory of Professor Naomi Chesler (http://CheslerLab.org). The laboratory is located within the Edwards Lifesciences Foundation Cardiovascular Innovation and Research Center (http://circ.eng.uci.edu). The position is funded by multiple extramural grants addressing topics related to cardiopulmonary mechanobiology and biomechanics, especially ventricular and vascular structure and function. Approximately 50% of the time will be spent designing and implementing high-level original research experiments, assisting in the creation of new grant applications, and contributing to manuscripts. The remaining 50% of their time will be devoted to assisting others with in vitro and in vivo experiments, measurements, and assays. The initial appointment will be full-time, for a 12-month period.

Requirements: A master’s or doctoral degree in biomedical engineering, physiology, biology, or a related field, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and strong oral and written communication skills are required. Experience with research data management is preferred.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and years of experience.
