Position description
The Department of Informatics in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) invites applications for an open-rank faculty position in software engineering.
We encourage applicants from all areas of software engineering to apply. Candidates at all ranks (i.e., assistant, associate, and full) will be considered for this position. While the search is comprehensive, of particular interest are candidates who have a focus on the synergy between artificial intelligence and software engineering.
The department is highly interdisciplinary with faculty backgrounds in software engineering, computer science, anthropology, design, education, health informatics, humanities, media arts, organizational studies, and psychology. Our faculty have a rich tradition of innovative research and education in software engineering. We consistently place among the top five institutions in the United States and the top 10 in the world for our research output in software engineering, according to csrankings.org. We offer four programs exclusively in software engineering: research-oriented Ph.D. and M.S. degrees, a professional M.S. degree, and a BS degree. We seek to further bolster our reputation with the recruitment of a new colleague who will thrive in and add to this environment.
UCI is ranked as a top 10 public university by U.S. News and World Report and has been identified by the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education as No. 3 for top colleges in the west for diversity. UCI is located in Orange County, four miles from the Pacific Ocean and 45 miles south of Los Angeles.
