Position: Associate Specialist with Professor Efi Foufoula Georgiou
Salary: $76,500

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for an Associate Specialist position in the area of Mathematics of Inverse problems and Remote Sensing of Precipitation.
This position requires a Ph.D. in mathematics, civil and environmental engineering, or geosciences. The preferred candidate should have experience in multi-scale analysis methods including wavelet transforms, mode decomposition etc., solution of inverse problems, and state-of-the-art methods for retrieval of precipitation from multi-satellite observations. The candidate must also be motivated and have a demonstrated record of written and oral communication skills, and a strong research publication record. The candidate will join Professor Foufoula’s research group to perform research on federally funded projects related to climate change, global precipitation estimation, and data-driven methods for solving inverse problems in engineering and geosciences.
