Position description

Position: Part Time Lecturers

The UC Irvine School of Education seeks applicants for temporary, part-time lecturer positions in 2014-2015 to teach courses in the Undergraduate and Credential Programs. Generally, part-time lecturer positions are offered for one quarter at a time and at varying percentages of time, depending on the number and nature of courses assigned. Some courses are scheduled during the day (one or two days per week); other courses are scheduled for one evening per week.

Openings may include but are not limited to the following course topics:
• Foundations of education and current educational issues
• Early childhood education
• Child development and applications in K-12 education
• Adolescent development and applications in K-12 schools
• Social development and applications in K-12 education
• Teaching and learning with children’s literature in elementary classrooms
• English language development and applications in elementary and secondary grades
• Developing literacies for academic success in the 21st century (reading, writing, academic language, research skills, media and technology skills, scientific literacy, critical thinking, communication)
• Cognition and learning and applications in K-12 schools
• Multicultural education, equity, and diversity in K-12 schools
• Education of special populations (exceptionalities and disabilities) in elementary and secondary grades
• College access and equity and implications for college advising
• Teaching English internationally
• Teaching and learning math in elementary and secondary grades
• Teaching and learning science in elementary and secondary grades
• Teaching and learning arts in elementary and secondary schools
• Teaching and learning English language arts in secondary schools
• Teaching and learning with educational technologies
• Children’s learning and media
• Foundations of after-school and out-of-school learning
• Principles and practices of coaching sports in K-12 schools
• Principles and practices of sports and fitness for elementary grades

Service Period Dates for 2014-2015 Academic Year:
Fall Quarter: 9/29/14 – 12/19/14
Winter Quarter: 1/2/15 - 3/20/15
Spring Quarter: 3/25/15 – 6/12/15

Minimum Qualifications: A master's degree, a record of successful teaching experience at the pre K-12 or university level, and demonstrated expertise in the content of the course to be taught. Relevant experience may be considered.

Desired Qualifications: a doctoral degree in a field related to the course to be taught.

Salary: Annual full-time salaries will begin at a base rate of $49,012.
