Position description

The University of California, Irvine, Department of Neurology is recruiting a Clinician-Scholar for its growing Department of Neurology. The successful candidate will be an outstanding researcher in some aspect of Neurobiology of Disease and additionally, be capable of providing outstanding patient care and teaching. This is a tenure-track academic appointment (50% in the Line series and 50% in the Professor In Residence series), expected to be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, although applicants at the Full Professor level will be considered. Salary will be commensurate with training and experience. UC Irvine, located in Orange County, with a population of more than three million, has a long and distinguished tradition of excellence in neuroscience.

Requirements:
We invite applicants who currently hold an academic position as Post-doctoral Fellow or Faculty Member of a major institution. Successful candidates must have an M.D. degree and an additional Ph.D. would be advantageous. The candidate should have a record of high-quality mentored or independent research, with scholarly activity and publications commensurate with experience. Candidates with extramural funding or submitted applications for mentored or independent awards, particularly from the NIH, are especially sought. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop an extramurally funded research program at a hight level of accomplishment, leading to national and international recogtnition.
