Postdoctoral Scholar
Position description
The Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) at the University of California, Irvine has an opening for a Postdoctoral Scholar with an interest in the application of biomaterial bridges for spinal cord injury. This project will focus on neural repair and regeneration, and investigate the potential combination of biomaterial approaches, neural stem cells, and modulation of inflammation.
Requirements: Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D., or equivalent degree and an established record of independent research, scholarly activity/publications, presentations at major scientific symposia and specialized training in biomaterials, neuroscience, and/or stem cells, interdisciplinary skills and approaches. Excellent communication Skills
Consideration will be given to candidates with established expertise using in vitro stem cell culture techniques, and/or in vivo models of central nervous system injury/disease, including analysis of regeneration.
Desired: Experience in behavioral testing and behavioral analysis.
Positions are dependent upon extramural funding. Rank and salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal is based on availability of grant funding.
