Position description

The Department of Radiological Sciences, University of California, Irvine is seeking qualified candidates in the non-tenure track Health Sciences Clinical series (Assistant, Associate) or Clinical Professor Series for a new full-time cardiovascular and thoracic imaging faculty position. Expertise in all aspects of cardiothoracic imaging is essential and experience with all aspects diagnostic thoracic imaging is desirable.
Requirements - The applicant must be fellowship trained in cardiothoracic imaging using radiography, CT, CTA, MRI, and MRA and have a definite documented interest in teaching and research. Candidates must be board-certified in diagnostic radiology, Current California is preferred. The candidate would be involved in reading CXR, CT, CTA and MRA for various thoracic diseases . He/she shall be expected to read cardiovascular cases as needed and also to perform basic and advanced 3D post-processing. The candidate will be expected to conduct multidisciplinary meetings with cardio-pulmonary medicine, infectious disease, and vascular and cardiothoracic surgery.

The University of California, Irvine Medical Center is located in Orange, California and is the only level I trauma center in the region. The department performs over 220,000 examinations per year and has 40 full-time and part time faculty. The department has state of the art equipment including a clinical 1.5T Avanto and 3T Trio Tim Siemens MRI, 3T Philips MRI, two 256-slice Phillips CT scanners, 128-slice Phillips CT scanner, and 64-slice GE and Siemens scanners. In addition, there are research scanners, Phillips 1.5T MR I and Toshiba 320 Aquilion, located at the University of Irvine campus.

The UC Irvine Medical Center is a 450-bed acute care and tertiary referral facility. Protected research time and research support is available. A perfect location with near perfect year round climate, gorgeous locales on the Pacific Ocean with nearby mountains for ski getaways and ocean beaches provide outstanding natural beauty and incomparable recreational opportunities. Great cultural opportunities abound in Orange County as well as in nearby Los Angeles, 40 minutes away and San Diego, about 60 minutes away.
