Position description

Postdoctoral Position in the Neurobiology of Addiction

Our group is seeking an ambitious and highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to perform research on the neurobiological mechanisms underlying nicotine reinforcement and aversion. The applicant will be responsible for the design and implementation of experiments utilizing mouse and rat behavioral models (e.g., intravenous drug self-administration, conditioned place preference, intracranial self-stimulation) in conjunction with manipulation of neuronal circuit function (e.g., via optogenetic/DREADD approaches). Our group is also interested in developing novel techniques to study extracellular signaling factors in the cerebrospinal fluid and their involvement on neuronal function in addiction-related brain regions. The overall goals of these investigations are to identify novel mechanisms of and targets for therapeutic development to treat tobacco/nicotine addiction. Previous experience and proficiency with in vitro neuronal culture, molecular assays, and generation of designer viral constructs is preferred.

Qualified candidates should send their curriculum vitae, statement of research experience and interests, and contact information of three references to the following on-line recruitment URL to submit the material requested:
