Position description

The Department of Neurology at the University of California Irvine has an opening for a Junior or an Assistant Specialist in a research project focusing on brain imaging in child development.

The employee will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigators to assist in a longstanding longitudinal study of cognitive and emotional outcomes in developing children and adolescents. The employee will administer behavioral tests and assist participants in undergoing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The employee will be expected to attend weekly laboratory meetings and wiil be responsible for record keeping throughout study activities. Some imaging studies and evaluations take place during off-hours and weekends.

Most work will be done primarily on the main campus in Irvine, and the incumbent may split time between different locations on campus. General duties include assisting faculty, graduate students, and post-docs with research procedures involving imaging and behavioral testing. Experience with behavioral testing, MRI scanning, IRB applications, modifications, and renewals is preferred.

Requirements - Applications are being sought from candidates with a degree in the field of Neuroscience, Biology, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or a related discipline. Incumbent must be able to work occasionally after hours and on weekends. Must have the ability to work independently, with maturity and outstanding communication skills. It is also required that the perfect candidate will have good time management skills and a reliable method of transportation.
