Part-Time Assistant Specialist – Modeling and control of energy systems

Salary/appointment: 60% Assistant Specialist, Monthly Salary of $2245.20

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, Irvine seeks a part-time Assistant Specialist in the area of control of fuel cell energy systems. The position is for conducting research in support of active projects in advanced control of energy systems.

The successful candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. degree from a leading research university in control or energy systems; experience with the SIMULIK environment for modeling dynamical systems and energy systems is needed. Familiarity with fuel cells, batteries or flow batteries would be highly desirable. The candidate should have excellent communication and time management skills, a proven record in journal publications, and enthusiasm for new challenges.
Specific responsibilities will include modeling of alternative fuel cell configurations, development of novel actuation and sensing mechanisms and design of anti-windup compensators for integrated fuel cell systems.
The position will remain open until filled. An immediate start date is available within a few weeks of the hiring decision. The candidate should be available for a start date during the September 15, 2015 – September 30, 2015 period. The position will be for 5 months and less than full time (60%).
