Mellon Sawyer Seminar Postdoctoral Fellowship- Documenting War
School of Humanities at the University of California, Irvine, invites applicants to apply for a one year Mellon Sawyer Seminar Postdoctoral Fellowship- Documenting War. The successful candidate will take a leading role “Documenting War,” a John E. Sawyer Seminar funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The fellow will be affiliated with the Humanities Commons, UCI’s humanities, as well as the appropriate academic department. The Mellon Fellow will participate in all activates associated with the Sawyer Seminar, have limited teaching duties and opportunities for scholarly work. The successful candidate will have a research agenda on documenting war (broadly defined) in the 20th century in the United States.

Requirements: A recent Ph.D. in a humanities discipline strongly encouraged and in hand by June 2016. Seeking candidates that have evidence of a research agenda concerned with “documenting war”. Excellent writing and analytical skills; experience in writing for different purposes and a diversity of audiences, including but not limited to scholarly audiences. Strong interdisciplinary interests, skills and experience. Flexibility, nimbleness, and creativity, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Organizational skills that can be applied to a project with both academic and practical components.
