Position description

The UCI Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering is anticipating openings in Laboratory for Fluorescence Dynamics for postdoctoral scholar positions (Levels I-IV).

Requirements: Seeking qualified candidate to pursue specialized research to develop novel imaging techniques for the study of biological systems, specifically in analysis protein dynamics in cells. Positions will be focused on the development of fluorescence methods and instrumentation techniques.

Qualified candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Physics, Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biomedical Engineering or closely related field. Experience with instrument development, fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy with broad interests in biology a plus. Specific experience with cellular imaging, computational analysis, lifetime imaging, multi-photon excitation microscopy and Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopies (Image, Fluctuation and RICS) is desirable. Preferred qualifications include effective and professional communication skills.

This is an ongoing recruitment and positions are dependent upon availability of extramural funding. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal is based on job performance and availability of support. Note: Total duration of an individual’s postdoctoral service may not exceed five years, including postdoctoral service at other institutions.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and years of experience.
