Part-Time Assistant Project Scientist – Air Quality Modeling

Salary/appointment: 20% Assistant Project Scientist, Monthly Salary of $6275.00

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, Irvine seeks a part-time Assistant Project Scientist in the area of mathematical modeling of air pollution dynamics. The successful candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. degree from a leading research university in engineering or science. Expertise with air quality models (e.g., WRF, CAMx, CMAQ, SMOKE) is essential. In addition, the candidate should be familiar with emission pre-processing, scientific visualization, FORTRAN programming and other computational science tools. The candidate should have excellent communication and time management skills, a proven record in journal publications, and enthusiasm for new challenges.

The position will remain open until filled. An immediate start date is available within a few weeks of the hiring decision. The candidate should be available for a start date during the March 1, 2016 – May 31, 2016 period. The position will be for 3 months and less than full time (20%).
