Post-doctoral Scholar – Air Quality Modeling

Salary/appointment: Postdoctoral Scholar, Annual salary starting at $45,432

The Computational Environmental Sciences Laboratory of UC Irvine welcomes applications for a position as a Postdoctoral Scientist to develop computational tools to study the atmospheric chemistry processes and their interactions with the meteorology related to secondary particulate matter.
Preferred experience: strong knowledge of three-dimensional air quality models (e.g., CMAQ), working knowledge of SMOKE, UNIX, FORTRAN, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of MPI is desirable but not necessary. The successful candidate will work with an existing air quality modeling system to generate meteorological inputs, update modules related to the dynamics of secondary organic aerosols, prepare emissions and meteorological input, and post-process results.
The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. degree in engineering or another field relevant to air quality. The appointment is for one year starting approximately May 2016 with renewal to a second year if progress is satisfactory.
