Position description

The University of California, Irvine, Program in Public Health is recruiting a full-time, nine-month salaried, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek candidates engaged in the application or development of the use of salivary biomarkers in the broad areas of population health, ranging from community health to global health. Research in substantive areas could include, but are not limited to, infectious disease epidemiology, exposure assessment, aging, infant mortality, diabetes, pregnancy, child development, and social or health disparities. Candidates with substantial research experience using salivary biomarkers in low- income country or community settings are particularly encouraged to apply. Applications are also encouraged from candidates who can contribute to biomarker discovery and measurement.

Applicants should have an outstanding record of research, evidence of the ability to obtain independent or collaborative extramural funding, and evidence of excellent teaching and mentoring. Successful applicants will contribute to a broader, interdisciplinary initiative in salivary bioscience at UCI, and will collaborate with other faculty members and research scientists affiliated with a newly established UCI Institute for Interdisciplinary Salivary Bioscience Research (iisbr.uci.edu). A doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D.) in a public health-related field, research excellence, and university teaching experience are required.
