Position description

The University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking applicants for a biostatistician-epidemiologist for the job title of research specialist.

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in biostatistics or related discipline or have a Masters in biostatistics with 5 years of consulting experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience with emergency medicine and population based health. It is required that the candidate be proficient with at least one statistical analysis language.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide consultation on research design and perform statistical analysis for emergency medicine research projects. The candidate will consult on research-statistical methods, sample size and data collection. They will interact with students, residents, fellows and faculty members within the department. It is expected that they perform data analysis and explain the results to the investigators. They will participate in writing and editing research reports with the principal investigators on the project. The candidate will manage multiple projects in parallel and will have excellent writing and editing skills. It is also desirable the candidate has familiarity with REDCap and experience working with large datasets.

Salary will be based upon the candidate’s training, qualifications, and experience.
