Position description

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of California, Irvine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position beginning July 1, 2016.

The fellowship emphasizes research in hydrological processes, extreme value analysis, uncertainty quantification (ground-based, remote sensing, and model-based analysis) and modeling non-stationary behavior of climate variables from global to local scales. The position requires strong quantitative research experience, solid background in hydrology/meteorology, mathematical statistics, as well as good written and oral communication skills. The candidate will be responsible for conducting independent research, be involved in collaborative research efforts, writing research papers, and assisting in proposal preparation.

This position requires a PhD degree in Civil Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Earth System Science or a closely related field, and expertise in data processing, and computer programing.

The initial appointment is for 12 months, renewable subject to performance and availability of adequate funding.
