Position description

The Department of History is seeking a full time Academic Coordinator to serve as the the History Project Coordinator. The Coordinator will help plan and execute professional development for local district history teachers both at UCI and in school districts across Southern California. By bringing knowledge of current research in US history and pedagogy to this position, the Coordinator will work with the director and local teacher leaders in organizing professional development and creating curriculum. The Coordinator will also work with the Director to reach out to school districts to create new partnerships and develop new contracts and grants for the future fiscal year. The Coordinator will work with the statewide network to develop historical thinking materials as well as professional development for the new History-Social Science Framework. As part of the Coordinator’s responsibilities to reach out to new audiences this person will manage and update the UCI History Project website and support digital humanities implementation. In addition, the Coordinator will complete administrative tasks that include: attending meetings, photocopying, data entry, website maintenance, and management of registration fees for programming.

Qualifications required: Ph.D. in United States History and teaching experience
Qualifications preferred: K-12 teaching experience and/or curriculum development expertise

Appointment Period: July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017, with the possibility of continuation pending external funding.
