Position description

The Department of African American Studies at the University of California, Irvine, announces a part-time visiting lecturer position for Winter 2017 (service period 1/4/17- 3/24/17 and pay period 01/01/17 - 03/31/17 ) to teach History of the African Diaspora, an undergraduate course required for the major in African American Studies. This course examines the causes and consequences of the multiple diasporas of African peoples since the sixteenth century in the Atlantic world, especially the Americas and Europe.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in African American Studies, Ethnic Studies, History, or a related field. Expertise in the study of the African diaspora, and substantial experience teaching undergraduates is required. The salary is currently $6512.38 for the course, based on an annual salary of $52,099.
