The University of California, Irvine, Claire Trevor School of the Arts, Department of Dance invites applications for a Full-time Lecturer with the Potential for Security of Employment in Kinesiology and Injury Prevention in Dance. The successful candidate will teach large lecture courses to majors and non-majors in areas such as scientific concepts of health, anatomy, kinesiology and nutrition; oversee the Dancer Wellness Suite and assist dancers in injury prevention and rehabilitation. Work in collaboration with faculty in Dance Science, somatics and related areas. Monitor dance student health and injuries. Advise students; direct undergraduate and graduate student thesis projects. Participate in departmental administration and decision-making. Serve on school and university committees. This series requires, in addition to excellent teaching and service, the candidate makes outstanding and recognized contributions to the development of his or her specific discipline and/or of pedagogy.

Certification in Physical Therapy or in Athletic Training in the State of California and, MS or Ph.D. in anatomical sciences, kinesiology, Physical Therapy, or related field are required. The successful candidate will have university teaching experience and professional experience in the field of dance science, kinesiology, or a related field. M.F.A./M.A. in Dance preferred.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience.

About the Department: The University of California, Irvine Department of Dance enrolls 200 undergraduate dance majors and 22 graduate students in B.A., B.F.A., and M.F.A. programs in dance. The department is recognized as one of the nation's outstanding dance programs. Former UCI students have danced with professional dance companies and national tours, and have gone on to successful careers as dance scholars, educators, and media artists. The department has six dance studios, a dedicated Performance Capture Studio, a Dance Wellness Suite, and performs in three theatres. They are outstanding opportunities to collaborate with biomedical scientists, engineers, and physicians studying human movement, including through the California Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit 2) and the iMove Collaboratory.
