Postdoctoral Scholar - Franz - June, 2017
Position description
UCI's Secure Systems and Software Laboratory, led by Professor Michael Franz have been at the forefront of research in dynamic compilation and in computer security. Our research has had substantial impact. For example, the trace compilation technology behind the TraceMonkey JavaScript compiler that is built into Mozilla's Firefox browser originated in our lab.
We anticipate that one or more additional full-time Post-doctoral Scholar positions will become available soon and we are looking for capable candidates to join our team. Appointments will be initially for a one year period and will be renewable. These positions require a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and demonstrated expertise, at the highest level, in the area of compiler construction, computer security, or both. The ideal candidate would already have publications in top conferences such as PLDI, CGO, IEEE S&P, ACM CCS, NDSS, or Usenix Security, and/or top journals such as ACM TOPLAS or ACM TACO.
Current graduate students who fulfill all other requirements but who have not quite yet completed their Ph.Ds. are welcome to apply; however, any offer will be made contingent on successful completion of the degree.
Salary to be between $65,000-$85,000 annually, depending on experience and qualification. Candidates without experience in either compilers or systems security are not encouraged to apply.
The starting date for the position is negotiable. Especially for candidates who still need to defend their Ph.D. degrees, we will gladly accommodate their graduation schedule.
