The UCI Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering is currently accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar to join the laboratory of Professor Chang C. Liu. Individuals will carry out a fully-funded project aimed at in vitro reconstitution of a DNA replication system that the Liu Lab studies. Because significant progress on this project has already been made, we will also consider applicants who would like to do a short (~1-2 year) postdoc. This project fits into the larger research interests of the Liu Lab, which aims to design and apply synthetic genetic systems to accelerate or decelerate evolution, to reprogram the genetic code, and to genetically record and reveal non-genetic information. Requirements: Research experience in biochemistry, especially nucleic acid and protein biochemistry or in vitro DNA polymerase activity characterization, is preferred, but any exceptionally creative and driven scientist interested will be thoroughly considered. Salaries will follow NIH guidelines. This position requires a Ph.D. in biology, chemistry or related discipline is required. Note: Total duration of an individual’s postdoctoral service may not exceed five years, including postdoctoral service at other institutions.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and years of experience.
