The Center for Complex Biological Systems is recruiting for an Academic Coordinator with a passion for higher education that can provide the administrative and planning acumen required to implement innovative short courses, conferences and summer programs attended by students and researchers of all levels.
Key responsibilities include recruitment and coordination of annual, nationally attended short courses in systems biology research, coordination of an annual regional conference, and delivering lectures and laboratory tutorials to students at a variety of levels from high school through graduate school. This individual will also work with course directors and outside evaluators to assess program effectiveness and recommend changes to program content.
The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in a biological discipline, especially molecular and/or developmental biology, genetics, or genomics, and evidence of relevant teaching experience at the university level. Experience in developing curriculum and course materials in a related field is also desired. Familiarity with mathematical and computational approaches to biological problems is desired as well. Required qualifications for this position include advanced interpersonal skills, strong leadership and teamwork skills, and the ability to work with dynamic and diverse groups of faculty, staff and students.
Salary level is negotiable and will depend upon the candidate’s experience. All appointments are initially for one year with for the strong expectation of extension, dependent upon performance.
