Position description

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks a board-certified or board-eligible neuropathologist in the non-tenure track Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the junior faculty level (Assistant Clinical Professor). Candidates must have training in accredited anatomic pathology and neuropathology fellowship programs; current trainees will be expected to achieve AP/NP board certification once training is completed. The successful recruit will have expertise in signing out the wide variety of cases seen in an academic neuropathology practice, including surgical, autopsy, and nerve & muscle cases. Ophthalmic pathology expertise is also preferred. The successful recruit will be diagnostic neuropathologist for the UCI Alzheimer Disease Research Center (ADRC) and will have the interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with faculty and staff in the neuroscience service line, including members of the brain tumor program. Candidates must have evidence of skills, interest, and commitment to the teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows, and in engaging in translational and/or clinical research.

The UCI Medical Center is a 450-bed tertiary/quarternary academic medical center and home to specialty services including an NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, the H. H. Chao Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center, the UC Irvine Regional Burn Center and the only Level I trauma center in Orange County. It provides diagnostic services to UCI Health patients as well as consultative and referral services to over 30 Orange County and 30 regional hospitals.

Requirements - All applicants must be board-certified or board-eligible in anatomic pathology and neuropathology by the American Board of Pathology, and be qualified for medical licensure in the State of California. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
