The Program in Corporate Welfare Studies at the University of California Irvine is seeking a postdoctoral researcher. The researcher would conduct his or her own research on corporate welfare, broadly defined as the causes and consequences of governmental policies that affect particular firms. Examples of related research supported by the Program include how regulations on airline pilot hours affect airline behavior, how the bailouts of banks deemed too large to fail affect different firms, conditions which make corruption especially likely, and how political pressures can affect the behavior of multinational firms. The postdoctoral researcher would spend most of the time conducting his or her own research. PhD students and undergraduates may be available to support the research. The researcher would also participate in related workshops, and would assist selected students in their research.
