The Department of Asian American Studies at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for a part-time Non Senate Faculty position with primary responsibility in teaching upper division interdisciplinary courses in Asian American Studies for academic year 2017-18. Base salary per course is $6,512.38. The service dates are for Spring Quarter 2018 (04/2/18 to 06/15/18).
We are looking for applicants who can teach the following course:
AsianAm 151D. Vietnamese American Studies.
Studies the resettlement of Vietnamese in the United States following their exodus from Southeast Asia. Topics discussed include the Vietnam War, the 1975 evacuation, boat and land refugees, the shaping of Vietnamese communities, and Vietnamese American literature.
Applicants with a Ph.D. preferred. Applicants who are ABD or have a M.A., M.F.A., or equivalent will be considered. UC graduate students must have a degree in hand by mid-February 2018 to be eligible to teach in Spring Quarter 2018.
The Department of Asian American Studies at the University of California, Irvine offers a major, minor, a graduate emphasis, 4+1 M.A., and contributes to the Ph.D. Program in Culture and Theory.
